After receiving her degree in Nutrition Science and Dietetics, Rachel worked at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She provided individual and group nutrition counseling to families and adolescents on healthy eating and medical nutrition therapy. She helped host a weekly nutrition and wellness program called “Nutrition University” for children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), obesity, and eating disorders.
Additionally, Rachel is a nutritionist at Smart Wellness Now, a private practice in Plano, Texas that focuses on weight-loss, anti-aging, and hormonal balance. Rachel provides nutrition counseling, pantry-cleanouts, grocery store tours, and personalized nutrition plans to patients. Working as part of an interdisciplinary medical team, Rachel also helps provide patients with extensive lab testing to further understand each patient’s health needs.
Rachel’s nutrition philosophy is one that looks at the total person. Not only on dietary intakes and supplements; but lifestyle, prevention, and the use of natural therapies. No nutrition session or plan is alike. At Rachel Scheer Nutrition, each consultation begins with a comprehensive assessment that includes an initial interview, nutritional assessment questionnaire, a dietary recall, and possible lab testing to make appropriate, personalized dietary and lifestyle recommendations.
